La Penseuse (Ada L.) , 100 x 100 acrylic on canvas [Poznań-Skoki 2019]
La Penseuse alludes by its title to a man immersed in contemplation, the famous Le Penseur, by Auguste Rodin. The pensive man has often provoked artists to make their own re-interpretations of the French sculptor’s work. The portrait of Ada L., which was born out of a simple desire to portray a beautiful woman, took on a whole new meaning over time. Immersed in her thoughts, the woman soothes an agitated reality with attentiveness and unbroken serenity, without a hint of effort or compulsion.
I recommend viewing the painting live in a lightly lit room….
